Description:
Fairly large, tufted forehead with white wing-patch and tail-tip; lacks bare orbital skin. Has prominent frontal crest, white patch at base of primaries and white tip to tail. Eye is pale. Black of crown and ear-coverts merges into grey or grey-brown of upperparts. Bill is orange, with dark blue base to lower mandible.
Distribution:
Uncommon resident in the southern mid-altitudes and lower areas of Diamer district. Found in forest edge and clearings, deciduous woodland near open areas, including cultivated lands and villages up to 2000 m.
Behavior:
Forages largely on ground, especially in grasslands grazed by cattle and hawks insects disturbed by them. Uses probing to collect insects in grass. Seen commonly in flocks or pairs. Omnivorous, diet incorporating animal food, fruit and seeds. Animal food includes frog tadpoles, small snails, earthworms, ticks, spiders, and other small insects. Fruits include figs, grapes and mulberries etc.
